Shoreline Community Pets
At Shoreline Happy Paws, we have established ourselves as the premier in-home pet care service in the Connecticut Shoreline. Since our inception in 2010, our team has dedicated itself to providing exceptional care for pets while ensuring peace of mind for their pet parents. With a commitment to reliability and love for animals, we have become a trusted partner for over 600 families along the Connecticut Shoreline. In addition to providing care for individuals, we are passionate about supporting Shoreline Community pets. Recently, we participated in two local events – allowing us to support their causes and meet many of you in person.
CT Shoreline Community Engagement Through Events
Shoreline Happy Paws is deeply committed to community engagement and frequently participates in local events that promote pet welfare and the benefits of pet parenting. Two notable events that we like to support are the Chester Dog Fair and the East Lyme Health and Public Safety Fair.
Chester Dog Fair: A Fair for Dogs
The Chester Dog Fair is an annual highlight for dog lovers across Connecticut. This year, the event took place on on Sat and Sun, Sep 14-15, 2024, from 10a-3p at the Chester Fairgrounds. Hosted by Homeward Bound CT this year’s 10th Annual Chester Dog Fair was bigger than ever. It featured some of the following highlights:
- Lure Course: Dogs can chase after a lure in this fun activity.
- Doggie Olympics: A series of competitions that showcase canine agility and skills.
- Vendors: 98 vendors offered everything from homemade dog treats to doggie ice cream.
- Live Music and Food Trucks: Enjoy delicious food while listening to great tunes.
- Pet-specific activities: Microchipping and Canine Good Citizenship testing,
- Fun surprises: Raffles, tie-dye t-shirts, and more.
The Chester Dog Fair was an affordable and entertaining day out and supported local pet initiatives. Approximately 2.5-3K pet lovers participate every year and we’re always a big sponsor. Shoreline Happy Paws was present at the fair, offering insights into our services and connecting with fellow pet enthusiasts. We loved the dog pie eating contest!
East Lyme Health and Public Safety Fair
Our team also took part in the East Lyme Health and Public Safety Fair. This event highlights the importance of health and safety not just for humans but also for pets. Shoreline Happy Paws provided information on keeping pets safe during emergencies and tips for responsible pet ownership. The first fair of this kind in this town, we were there mainly as a Pet First Aid & CPR vendor and promoting our new safety campaign: “Drive Like Your Dog Walks Here.” I almost got hit by a speeding car with a dog I was walking on September 12th of this year. Luckily the car missed us by one foot but it was way too close. The incident inspired me to launch this initiative and I ordered a bunch of yard signs to deliver to local residents for free.
For me, the biggest highlight of this year’s East Lyme Health and Public Safety Fair was meeting Percy, the town’s PD Therapy Dog. We also enjoyed talks by Department of Energy and Env Protection (DEEP) regarding encounters with wildlife and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA.)
