Dog Walking Jobs in the CT Shoreline
At Shoreline Happy Paws, we are currently hiring dog walkers to join our team. We have strict guidelines to ensure that we hire the most responsible, dedicated dog lovers and train them to be exceptional pet care providers. We don’t just hire dog lovers, though loving dogs is, of course, integral to the job. Today, I’m digging into our dog walking jobs in the CT Shoreline, how we hire, and the benefits our employees enjoy.
Vetting & Hiring Process
Any Pet Care Professional that is hired at Shoreline Happy Paws is a pet care provider I would trust in my home and with my pets. During 2021, with the challenges businesses faced hiring staff, I preferred to lose business due to understaffing rather than to hire the wrong person to join the team. After all, our staff go into our clients homes and have access to their beloved pets. We don’t take that lightly.
Because we recognize the many responsibilities our employees will face as dog walkers, we have designed a 12-step vetting and hiring process to select only those candidates that will be a great addition to the team. In addition, once hired, we explore their strengths, determine their ongoing training needs, and empower them to be the best they can be.
Background Screenings
All Pet Care Professionals at Shoreline Happy Paws, LLC. undergo a federal and state background check before we can consider them for a position with us. We currently use ACUTRAQ for background screenings. ACUTRAQ is a leading provider of comprehensive background screening services. They protect customers of businesses like ours by providing reliable, up-to-date information about our potential employees. This allows us to make informed decisions, mitigate risks associated with hiring, and ensure the safety of our customers, your pets, and other employees.
Orientation & On-The-Job Training
Our employees also undergo orientation and in-house training, including shadowing an experienced team member, before they can provide their first service independently.
From puppies and kittens to geriatric and hospice care, our Pet Care Professionals care for pets in varying stages of life. For this reason, we are committed to preparing our staff for anything and everything. For this reason, every one of our employees undergoes pet first aid and CPR training. The online course, ProPetHero, includes up-close demonstrations with real pets. From videos and pictures of dogs experiencing real symptoms and emergencies, our team is trained to recognize a red flag and know how to help.
Among others, the course covers the following topics:
-
- Vomiting and diarrhea
- Bloat
- Loss of appetite
- Lethargy
- Weakness or collapse
- Seizures
- Cold or heat exposure
- Fever
- Itchiness/scratching
- Cardiovascular emergencies including cat and dog CPR
- Bleeding and temporary wound care, infection prevention
- Lameness
- Suspected fracture or spinal injury
- Burn wounds
- Hit by car, fall from height, animal attack
- Shock
- Poisonings and envenomations
- Allergic reactions
- Respiratory emergencies including choking, near-drowning, breathing problems/respiratory distress, and rescue breathing
Benefits
We believe that our team members deserve a safe, positive, and rewarding work environment. For this reason, we offer our Pet Care Professionals competitive pay, paid training, flexible hours, weekly paycheck bonuses, and holiday pay.
In addition, our staff members enjoy local field support. As part of Shoreline Happy Paws, they can count on our Management Team to support them if there is an emergency, challenge, or question. We provide back-ups to ensure services are never interrupted and work together with our team to make our mission of ‘Making Pet Parenting Easier’ possible.
