Pet sitters make your home appear occupied by alternating lights according to the time of day and opening window treatments. We take out the trash on trash day and bring it back in. And, we also collect all mail and packages to prevent theft and ensure the home appears cared for.
We Prevent Crime With Regular Visits
Most burglars scope out a home before striking, which means they are watching for patterns. They may see you pack your car with suitcases and deem your home the perfect target. But, burglars will also watch to see if anybody remains in the home before attempting to enter. That’s where at least one or two visits per day from a professional in-home pet sitter can come in handy. Burglars quickly realize that a home is looked after, increasing the chances that they will move on to an unsecured home.
We Never Leave Keys Under the Mat
Burglars tend to look for the path of least resistance, which in terms of home security is a key left under a mat or in a flowerpot. According to studies, burglars often report obtaining a key to the homes they burglarize before entering, even if the keys were considered to be well disguised.
For this reason, we do not use keys that are left outdoors for us. We encourage clients to be cautious about who they share their keys with and where they leave them. Clients issue us keys to enter their homes. We code each key to ensure that, if ever misplaced, keys cannot be traced to the home to which they belong.

We Keep An Eye Out for Home Issues
Over the years, during pet sitting visits, we have noticed leaking kitchen sinks, leaky toilets, and more. When we notice these concerns, we immediately call clients to ask how they’d like us to manage the situation. Even if we simply cut off the water to a particular area of the home or call the city about a burst pipe, we can prevent costly damage by merely having noticed the issue.
